1. What recommendation technology means

KollabiuM uses algorithms to select some posts, stories and people you may want to discover. They compare your actions, settings and connections with available content to decide what to suggest and how to order it.

2. What these rules cover

These rules explain where recommendations appear, what information they use, where that information comes from and how you can influence the result. They cover the social feed, stories, people recommendations and notification roundups on the KollabiuM website and web app. Available controls differ between screens.

3. Why we use recommendations

Recommendations help you find interesting work and people, follow familiar authors and discover new ones. They do not guarantee any author a position, number of views or new followers.

4. Information and its sources

We use information generated within KollabiuM:

  • Your follows, friendships and team connections, from contacts and team records.
  • Your likes on posts and comments, comments on posts and story views, from your activity. Some connections and suggestions use the past 30 days.
  • Post impressions and time spent on posts, negative feedback, hidden authors and “More like this”, from feed actions. A previous impression may lower a post's position; time spent is not turned into a separate prediction of interest.
  • Your profile language, selected interests, favourite and muted authors, pinned people in the story tray and feed preferences, from your profile and settings. Each surface uses different information: selected interests help suggest people rather than directly adding an interest score to every feed post.
  • Content dates, authors, language, format and topic labels, plus counts of likes, comments, reposts, saves, reactions and views, from content and platform counters. Topic labels help find content similar to posts marked “More like this”.
  • Visibility, restrictions and blocks, from access settings and moderation rules. Notifications also use delivery preferences and recent activity.
  • Plan entitlements, from active account rights. Your plan determines access to some controls. The author’s plan sets story priority for followers and recommendation quotas (section 7). Team publication notifications and some story roundups also use the available team circle.
  • Banners and targeted emails may use account age, current plan, language, interests and recent activity. If selected by the campaign creator, conditions may also use email opens and clicks, published posts, completed AI Studio work, conference activity and credit purchases, from the respective services and email delivery records. These conditions do not automatically apply to every campaign.

5. How selection works on each surface

The platform gathers candidates, checks access and then applies the rules of that screen. The main feed uses a weighted formula; it does not promise to predict your interests perfectly.

For you

Smart mode combines freshness, overall engagement, your connection to the author, language and content format. Your circle includes follows, friends, team connections and authors you have interacted with. Other authors and reposts from your circle may also appear, so you do not need to follow an author to see their work.

Previously shown posts may appear lower. Several posts from the same author receive a lower weight. “More like this” raises the weight of posts by that author and posts with related topic labels. Favourite authors receive priority for fresh unseen posts; muted authors receive less weight. Selected Daily Theme answers may receive a boost too. Older posts may appear when the fresh selection runs out.

Chronological mode orders posts by creation time. It turns off smart ranking, while access and selection rules still apply. It does not turn off people suggestions, the story tray or notification roundups.

Other feeds and the feed organiser

Following shows your posts and posts and accessible reposts from followed authors. Friends and team shows posts from friends and your team circle. These feeds mainly use time order. When the main list ends, a continuation selection may appear.

Popular in 24 hours uses recent posts and overall engagement: likes, comments, reposts and saves. New authors selects posts from recently registered authors. The organiser lets you reorder available feeds and hide optional ones.

Story tray

The tray uses your connections to authors, interactions over the past 30 days, whether stories have been viewed and freshness. You can pin people at the beginning within your available limit. Suggestions from other authors may also appear and are marked in the tray. A suggestion does not mean you follow that person.

Who to watch and shared interests

People suggestions combine post likes, mutual friends, team connections and shared selected interests. Who to watch requires recent visible work from the author. Popular authors provide a fallback when personal signals are insufficient. Cards give a short reason; you can follow or hide a person. Lists refresh periodically, so actions do not always change the list immediately.

A separate shared-interest selection compares selected topics and the number of matches.

Roundups and notifications

Story roundups choose authors from your available circle using engagement and view counts. Missed-story reminders use recent activity and unseen stories. Delivery also depends on notification settings. Publication notices can also arrive from your mentor and team members without a follow; team distribution uses the author’s available team circle. Mentor notices use the following notification group, so turning off team notices alone does not stop them.

Banners and targeted emails

Banners can target new accounts or users on selected plans. The team sets their audience, placement, schedule and order. There is no separate banner-reset control. Email campaigns may use the conditions listed in section 4; delivery also groups recipients by activity recency, and account language selects the message language. This selects email recipients rather than boosting an author’s posts. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email; individual email groups are available in notification settings.

Search, trends and discussions

Search uses your query and result visibility. Knowledge-base search matches your query against article text and, when semantic search is enabled, meaning in your chosen language, without using your account profile. AI Studio trends use repeat counts for popularity and shared categories for related trends. This differs from the personalised smart feed. Comment order may use the post author's like, friendships, engagement and time. Daily Theme selection uses answer engagement and the selected day. Like previews may show your friends first. Laboratory ideas are ordered by votes and polls by time.

6. Your controls

Choose Smart or Chronological for For you, change follows and interests, use “More like this” and hide unwanted posts. Author preferences offer favourite, normal and muted modes. Their limits and story pin limits depend on your plan.

“Do not count views” stops recording new post impressions and dwell signals for the feed. It does not delete earlier signals. Story views and other actions are recorded separately.

“Reset feed” removes saved feed signals and restores default ranking weights. It does not remove follows, likes, comments, interests or author preferences. Your selected mode, feed layout and view-recording setting remain. Resetting the feed does not reset every recommendation system on the platform.

The post menu offers “Why this post is in your feed”: Y provides a short explanation with one or two main reasons; Z, Alpha, Alpha Air, Alpha Pro and Alpha Max provide a detailed explanation with signals and their shares. Individual explanations are unavailable on X. People suggestions can show a short reason. These general rules are free on every plan and without signing in.

7. The author's plan and promotion

The author's plan affects how high their stories appear in followers’ trays: X has no plan boost; Y a bit higher; Z higher; Alpha and Alpha Air high; Alpha Pro even higher; Alpha Max top places in plan priority. Pinned people and unseen stories retain priority; connections, interactions and freshness also matter. Plan priority does not guarantee a particular position or number of views.

Story recommendations use the author's plan quota: X and Y have no quota; Z one story per week; Alpha one per day; Alpha Air two per day; Alpha Pro three per day; Alpha Max five per day. The quota limits the number of stories participating in recommendations. It does not promise views, followers or reach. See the plans page.

Your plan also determines your feed controls and the detail of “Why this post is in your feed”. Story plan priority differs from selecting banner and email audiences by the recipient's plan.

Your posts and stories may appear to members of your available team circle without a follow. No follow is created automatically; privacy and access restrictions remain. This defines the available team circle and does not guarantee reach. Partner programme terms are available in Team after signing in.
